This Meet ‘n Greet is dedicated to the memory of Claire Ortiz Hill (1951-2025) who passed away on December 4th, in Paris, France. Claire was an expert in the “Logical Investigations” of Edmund Husserl. She never met Karl Popper, but she became a colleague, friend and house-guest of Ivor Grattan-Guinness who obtained a M. Sc. degree in 1966 at the London School of Economics where he interacted with both Karl Popper and Imre Lakatos. Claire helped me (i.e., this blog’s administrator) understand the backdrop against which Popper wrote his 1978 Bibliographic Note that he added on page 152 at the end of Chapter 3, “Epistemology Without a Knowing Subject” in the 1979 revised edition of “Objective Knowledge. An Evolutionary approach. But her work is also excellent to discern the significance of Mark Notturno’s (1985) Ph.D. thesis, “Objectivity, Rationality and the Third Realm: Justification and the Grounds of Psychologism. A Study of Frege and Popper“. Claire was a good friend and colleague to Ruth Barcan Marcus, Jaakko Hintikka, and Barry Smith. Humorously, Claire pointed out that she had never been institutionalized. Many of her paper are available at her Academia.edu website. [If you have trouble accessing any of the linked websites in this paragraph, please send an email to ourkarlpopper[at]gmail[dot]com.

Suggestions or ideas for next year’s 24 hrs. transcontinental Karl Popper Meet ‘n Greet:
Would you like to host a session next year? Do you know someone associated with the philosophy of karl Popper who deserves to be celebrated. Please send an email to ourkarlpopper[at]gmail[dot]com.
If it is the first time that you are participating in a 24hrs. transcontinental Karl Popper Meet ‘n Greet:
All of us are volunteers who think that Karl Popper is communicating something unique and special in his work that mainstream philosophers have not fully grasped yet. These Meet ‘n Greets are to be treated as an opportunity for informal networking, conversations, and discussions . They are a complement to the bi-annual “Karl Popper & Critical Rationalism ZOOM Conference,” organized by Jeremy Shearmur. To be put on the associated mailing list, contact Jeremy[dot]Shearmur[at]fallowfield[dot]info.
When you click on the ZOOM link, you will be put in the WAITING ROOM. Once you have been admitted you will have entered the MAIN SESSION room. There you will meet someone of the co-organizing team who will address any questions you may have. He or she will send you to the breakout room, labeled, ALL EVENTS, where all the presentations will take place. Additional breakout rooms are available for further small group and/or one-on-one conversations.
Have you joined the ourkarlpopper Google group yet:
The OurKarlPopper Google group was launched during the Jan 2023 Meet ‘n Greet. It exists for the purpose of sharing skills and expertise to advance the philosophy of Karl Popper and the practical attitude of critical rationalism. That is, to request and offer skills and expertise — web design, database programming, social media etc. — to help one another with one’s individual critical rationalism projects. Further details can be found in the Google-group description itself.
