You are cordially invited to join and participate in 4th Transcontinental Meet-‘n-Greet to celebrate and promote the philosophy of Karl Popper and critical rationalism.

It will take place on Saturday, January 13th starting at 2:30pm GMT (London, UK). The ZOOM room will open at 2:00pm GMT, and the facilitated discussion and conversations will begin at 2:30pm GMT. It is a free event, and everyone is welcome. The entire event will be recorded. If you would like to opt-out, turn off your camera and change your ZOOM name.

2:30-3:30pm: Welcome and introductions – with Elyse Hargreaves.
3:30-5:00pm: Jeremy Shearmur on the difference between critical rationalism and analytic philosophy.
5:00-7:00pm: Adam Chmielewski in conversation with Luc Castelein. Adam was the last person to interview Karl Popper, during the Summer of 1994.
7:00-9:00pm: Karl Popper and a World Beyond War – with Philip Benesch, the author of The Viennese Socrates.
9:00-11:00pm: The Open Universe and Indeterminism – a conversation with Sadia Naeem, PhD experimental nuclear physics, M.Sc. astronomy & physics.
11:00pm-1:00am: Politics, anti-politics and the strive for peace – with Chen Yehezkely, a student of Joseph Agassi.
1:00-3:00am : Popper in Increments – with Ben Chugg & Vaden Masrani, the hosts of the Increments podcast.

Format:

All conversations/discussions will take place in the breakout room, labeled ALL SESSIONS. Additional breakout rooms are available for further discussions, and one-on-one conversations.

It exists for the purpose of sharing skills and expertise to advance the philosophy of Karl Popper and the practical attitude of critical rationalism. That is, to request and offer skills and expertise — web design, database programming, social media etc. — to help one another with one’s individual critical rationalism projects. The Annual Transcontinental Karl-Popper Meet ‘n Greets are organized by the Friends of ourkarlpopper.net and they are intended as informal gatherings to say hello to new and old friends & colleagues. There is no need to prepare anything. The only thing that is expected from you is to click on the ZOOM link and be ready to join the conversation.

People can drop by any time at their convenience. It is not necessary to RSVP, but it is strongly encouraged to help the organizing team plan better. Current ZOOM capacity is 100 and can be increased as needed. For those with a Facebook account, there is an event page where one can RSVP.
